Consumer Reports Ranks Motorola Droid Mini 4G Above the iPhone 5S and 5C

droidminiConsumer Reports has always had a love affair with Apple iPhones, but recently released an article which said they preferred the Motorola Droid Mini 4G running on Verizon to the Apple iPhone 5S or 5C running on any carrier. They said that the “always on” listening feature coupled with Google Now were among qualities that made the Motorola Droid Mini, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Moto X superior to the latest iPhone offering. They also favored the new Active Display technology Motorola is using which takes up only the required amount of display space for notifications, helping to improve battery power.

The respected consumer advocate blatantly stated that Apple’s newest iPhone offerings were “no match” for the Motorola lineup which hit the mobile marketplace in the United States just a few months ago. Currently the Verizon Motorola Droid Mini 4G is offered for $44.99 on contract, available at the Amazon Wireless store online. The Droid Mini is an extremely light, slim and compact phone, and achieves this attractive form factor without minimizing display size.

At only 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) in thickness, the Motorola Droid Mini is one of the slimmer smartphones available. And even with a large 4.30 inch True HD display, the phone is surprisingly light, weighing just 4.59 ounces (130 g). Screen resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivered at 342 pixels per inch. A dual core 1.7 GHz CPU sits at the center of the brain trust, and is accompanied by a powerful quad core graphics processor, as well as standalone cores for both contextual computing and natural language processing.

The handset comes with 16.0 GB of built-in data storage space, and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory. The 10.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the Droid Mini 4G offers a quick capture mode which can be accessed with a quick double flick of your arrest, video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, and that rear snapper offers an LED flash, autofocus and several customization features. Motorola has built a 2.0 megapixel chat cam into the front of the handset, and it provides video call support. The Motorola Droid Mini 4G has been a consistent bestseller for Verizon, and runs on that company’s 4G LTE system in the United States.
