The BlackBerry Z10 is an LTE-enabled mobile handset which is the fastest, most advanced BlackBerry smartphone yet. Hitting the smartphone-crazed US market in March of this year, the phone tabulated 1 million sales quicker than analysts expected. Aside from being a popular choice among normal consumers, the BlackBerry Z10 with the brand-new BlackBerry 10 operating system has even drawn the backing of the United States Department of Defense (DOD) as an approved device for their employees.

Gone is the physical QWERTY keyboard mentioned above which has been the literal trademark of BlackBerry phones in the past, and the new handset delivers a large high-resolution display which is totally touchscreen driven. The BlackBerry Keyboard is an innovative virtual input application that uses a built-in intelligence to actually learn your writing style and improve your speed and accuracy. The phone measures a slim 0.35 inches (9.0 mm), and weighs just 4.85 ounces (130 g). The 4.2 inch capacitive, multitouch display delivers a True HD+ resolution of 768 by 1,280 pixels, offered at an extremely high pixel density of 356 pixels per inch.

The phone can be found at select online retail outlets for around $49 on contract, and a recent report revealed that a full 50% of new BlackBerry Z10 customers in Canada were coming from Android, iOS and other mobile operating systems. That same study showed that one third of UK Z10 purchasers were also coming from competitors’ operating systems, displaying the obvious success BlackBerry has achieved with their new style smartphone.

The BlackBerry Z10 is capable of 13.0 days of standby battery power, as well as 10.0 hours of talk time from a single charge. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system-on-a-chip, the BlackBerry Z10 runs on a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. Graphics is handled exclusively by the onboard Adreno 225 GPU, a generous 2.0 GB of RAM memory is present, and the 16 GB of built-in storage space can be expanded with the handset’s microSD slot.
