bbz10bThe BlackBerry Z10 4G capable mobile handset has, fortunately for the struggling Canadian smartphone manufacturer, been well received so far. Released in March in the United States, the phone arrived with a $99 on contract price tag. However, smartphone shoppers looking for an option to the pervasive Google and Apple operating systems on a mobile handset recently received some good news concerning the price tag on the slim and light BlackBerry Z10 4G smartphone. The handset was recently spotted online at select online retailers boasting a one penny on contract price tag.

The BlackBerry Z10 is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

The summer season in the United States is ultracompetitive in the smartphone arena, and with both Verizon Wireless and AT&T offering the 4G BB Z10 for a one penny retail price will certainly make a possible purchase more likely for many phone shoppers. BlackBerry also recently announced a new operating system update to the BlackBerry 10 OS. All Z10 handsets in the US should have received by now, or are in the process of receiving, a bump up to version 10.1 of that operating system. The flagship BlackBerry 10 smartphone received the following benefits with this software boost.

BlackBerry Hub now allows you to view e-mails that are attached to other e-mails, contact suggestions are provided when you begin to address a message, and you can send PIN to PIN messages between BlackBerry smartphones. BlackBerry 10.1 also allows you to personalize notifications for all your accounts and contacts. This includes customizing ringtones and vibrations, and also personalizing LED lights which alert you visually to which friend, family or coworker is messaging or calling.

This even goes as far as to allow different notifications for separate applications and accounts, such as e-mail accounts, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Click to call access from an e-mail or BlackBerry Messenger message is also provided, and with the new 10.1 operating system upgrade, the BlackBerry Z10 supports copy and paste dialing. You should experience better cursor control as well, and the 8.0 megapixel rear facing camcorder on the Z10 now delivers an HDR (high dynamic range) mode to improve camera functionality in “tricky lighting conditions.”

Delivered as an over the air update, the operating system upgrade arrives on the slim and light Z10 which was recently reported to have delivered the best sales numbers ever for a BlackBerry mobile handset launch. The 4G capable Z10 delivers a large 4.20 inch display which is totally touchscreen driven, the first time for a BlackBerry phone. Resolution runs 768 by 1,280 pixels, the phone is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU, 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and 16 GB of built-in storage space has been added. The handset also offers a microSD slot for storage expansion.

The BlackBerry Z10 can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
