The HTC One X 4G Android smartphone is finally here. The handset which received Videomaker’s CTIA 2012 Spotlight Award as the best new device at this year’s annual event in New Orleans, Louisiana delivers simultaneous high-resolution video capture at 1,080P HD while also allowing snapshot recording. The first smartphone ever designed with this capability, that handset also won the Best Smartphone of MWC award from Laptop Magazine at this year’s Mobile World Congress event. Arriving with a svelte 0.35 inch (8.9 mm) profile, the HTC One X delivers Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 and the full range Beats Audio application out-of-the-box.
Also delivering one of the highest resolution screens and one of the largest displays of any mobile handset, the HTC One X runs on the new AT&T 4G LTE wireless network, and is powered by one of the quickest processors of any 4G smartphone. Sony recently announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles that the HTC One X and HTC One S handsets will receive full PlayStation Certification and support the new PlayStation Games Store. The large 4.70 inch screen delivers an extremely high pixel density of 312 pixels per inch, for an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and those visuals are rendered in more than 16 million unique colors, perfect for the demanding PlayStation gamer.
Talk time on the HTC One X runs an above average 8.50 hours from a single charge of the 1,800 mA battery, and a Qualcomm MSM8960 microchip package delivers a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor and graphics dedicated Adreno 225 chip. A full 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, as is 16 GB of built-in, user accessible storage. The handset has a 1.3 megapixel chat cam on the front, and 8.0 megapixel camcorder around back. That rear device delivers an F/2.0 lens that captures 40% more light than the standard 4G smartphone camera, and when coupled with the LED flash delivers excellent low light camera functionality.
Up to 20 still shots can be captured in rapid succession, and the instant snapshot mode allows you to snap a shot in 0.7 seconds. High resolution video capture is provided at 1,080P HD, and Near Field Communications (NFC) support out of the box makes apps like Google Wallet possible. Google is also present in the form of Google Search, Google Talk, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Picasa. The HTC One X is currently available for around $175 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan from select retailers.
