In the past couple of days, we see manufacturer after manufacturer take the center stage to unveil the latest devices in their respective stables. We’ve seen Samsung unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note II a couple of weeks ago. Motorola also joined the fun with the announcement of its new triumvirate of devices. Nokia had its part with the announcement of the Nokia Lumia 920 and who could ever forget the unveiling of the iPhone 5? It seems that very capable devices are dropping like manna from the heavens with the recent announcements that were made.

Not to be left behind, HTC also has its own press event where the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer unveiled the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the company’s current flagship device for the Windows Phone ecosystem. After the announcement, Canadian carriers Rogers and Bell immediately announced that they will be releasing the HTC Windows Phone 8X in Canadian territories north of the border. No word on pricing or release date yet but we are sure that the two Canadian carriers will release the pertinent details soon enough.

As for the handset hitting the shelves in US shores, AT&T also announced that it will release its version of the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Sad to say and similar to the case of Bell and Rogers up north, there was no mention of price point of launch date on the part of AT&T – the wireless provider just mentioned that it is going to sell the handset “within the coming months”.

Should this pan out, AT&T subscribers who happen to be fanboys of the Windows Phone platform will definitely have a hard time choosing between the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the Nokia Lumia 920 which incidentally will also be released by the wireless provider.

As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the handset will the premier Windows Phone offering of the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer to replace the “Titan”-ic HTC Titan II. In terms of its design and aesthetics, the handset boasts of a polycarbonate unibody design while its dimensions come up to 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm. Despite the 10.1 mm waist line, the HTC Windows Phone 8X feels rather slim because of its tapered edges which in a way also makes the handset feel great in the handset even for extended periods of time.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X is not just external beauty though. It also packs fire-breathing components under the hood with its circuitry built around a QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. This SoC gives the handset a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM for a snappy performance. Its storage space is rated at 16GB but unfortunately, there is no option to have this expanded further. Its display on the other hand is a 4.3-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department boasts of a rear-facing 8Mp shooter and affront-facing 2.1MP video call camera.
