And while the handset appears rather slim and svelte, the feature set on board is powerful enough that it allowed the Galaxy  S II to capture first and second place in the coveted Best New Mobile Device category at this year’s 4G world conference and expo in Chicago, Illinois. With dimensions of 4.96 x 2.60 x 0.35 inches (126 x 66 x 9 mm) and weighing in at 4.30 ounces (122 g), the ATT Samsung GalaxyS II is average in size and weight when measured against other 4G smartphones, while offering a thinner profile than most.

The Samsung Galaxy  S II delivers a 4.30 inch Super AMOLED Plus display which represents images and video in 16 million colors, and in 480 x 800 pixel resolution. A proximity is on board, and delivers a battery saving auto shut off feature, while Corning Gorilla Glass provides a layer of scratch resistance and glare reduction.

Talk time from a single battery charge runs 8.00 hours, the average for a 4G handset, and standby time sits at 16 days. The hardware package on the award-winning Samsung GalaxyS II is anchored by an Exynos C210 set of microchips, including a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor and a Mali 400MP graphics processing unit. Samsung has included 16 GB of built-in storage, and added 1.0 GB of RAM memory.

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy  S II offers dual cameras, in the form of a front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam and rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That rear device provides video capture at 1080P HD resolution, and comes equipped with a video light and LED flash for low light operation.
