In today’s smartphone competition, the Samsung Galaxy S III is still the undisputed king of the hill because the Samsung flagship device brings an impressive resume and even more impressive capabilities to the table. Since its release back in the latter parts of May, the Samsung Galaxy S III has already racked up sales figures of more than 30 million units thereby making the device a veritable gold mine for the Korean electronics giant. Other OEMs also came out with their respective flagship devices but none ever came close to what the Samsung Galaxy S III managed to achieve in barely six months of sitting in the shelves.

The LG Optimus G is available for a deeply discounted Black Friday price tag at select authorized online retailers now starting at $99.99.

When LG however released its flagship LG Optimus G, there were whispers that the Samsung Galaxy S III has finally met its match. This is still in contention but the LG flagship handset is a star of its own combining great looks with fire-breathing components under the hood. The LG Optimus G has already landed in US shores and was released in our side of the world by AT&T with a price tag of $199.99 with a new two-year service agreement with the wireless provider.

Those who have snubbed the Samsung Galaxy S III and instead are eyeing the LG Optimus G to be their next mobile weapon of choice now have the chance to get their hands on the LG flagship device at a much cheaper price point. As it stands, AT&T has already given the green light to its authorized retailers to slash the price point of its variant of the LG Optimus G so the handset is now much cheaper than before. The discount applies to both new customers and upgraders and those interested in taking advantage of the LG Optimus G at its reduced price point will be required to sign a new two-year service agreement with the wireless provider.

As for the AT&T version of the LG Optimus G, the addition of the handset to the carrier’s portfolio of Android-powered devices was announced back in September but the device only made its appearance in the shelves of the wireless provider this November. The LG Optimus G has dimensions of 130.8 x 71.6 x 8.4 mm and it tips the scales at 147.1 grams.

Under the hood, the LG Optimus G runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system but an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is already planned for the handset. Its circuitry is built around the device’s QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon chipset and a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor works in conjunction with a staggering 2GB of RAM to ensure that the performance of the handset is always snappy and lag-free. The LG Optimus G comes with 16GB of onboard storage but the handset also comes with a preinstalled 16GB microSD card slot for memory expansion purposes. Its display on the other hand is a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus panel with a 1280 x 768 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.

You can purchase the LG Optimus G for a discounted price tag now starting at $99.99.
