bbz10verizonTo say that the Canadian smartphone manufacturer formally known as RIM has been struggling the last few years is to state their position mildly. You have to go all the way back to 2007, the debut of the iPhone, to find a time when BlackBerry held a dominant smartphone market share. The company has put all of their eggs in the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 OS baskets, and it appears that bet is paying off. Recent reports show that a full 50% of BlackBerry Z10 Canadian sales are coming from other platforms.

The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE is available for a reduced sale price now starting at .

Evidence also shows that a full one third of BlackBerry Z10 sales in the United Kingdom have also come from users already on other mobile operating systems. In the super competitive mobile marketplace, smartphone manufacturers strive to do two things better than anything else. They work very hard to get new customers from other competing operating systems, and then they work diligently to keep those customers. Evidently the totally revamped form factor of the BlackBerry Z10 and the new BlackBerry 10 operating system are attracting major attention.

When the BlackBerry Z10 first launch, it roared to 1 million global sales quicker than analysts had predicted. The problem was not demand, and instead BlackBerry dropped the ball with some supply issues, or sales could even be better. One major Canadian retailer has even said that the BlackBerry Z10 is currently outselling both the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III. Todd Coupland is a representative for industry analyst CIBC, and he released the information regarding 50% of preregistrations for the Blackberry Z10 in Canada coming from other operating systems.

Those numbers were confirmed recently when online news site BGR disclosed that “high-level BlackBerry executives” had given them the same information. The UK is another hot market for smartphones, and for BlackBerry to get a full one third of Z10 sales from other operating systems is certainly a coup for the company in that region. The slim Blackberry Z10 is a totally touchscreen driven handset, the third time that the company has done away with their iconic physical QWERTY keyboard.

Touted as the fastest and most powerful BlackBerry ever made, the handset delivers a large 4.2 inch LCD with 1,280 x 768 pixel resolution. This creates a high-end pixel density of 356 pixels per inch, and the phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 2.0 GB of RAM memory. 16 GB of internal storage is present, as is a storage-expanding microSD slot. The handset also offers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, front facing chat cam and NFC wireless support out-of-the-box.

  1. Nice article…just one fix. The Storm series were all touch devices, making the Z10 the third BlackBerry w/out the physical keyboard. The Z10 is the first all touch on the new BB10 operating system though!
