htconeHTC released the One back in April of this year and since then the high end smartphone has been in the news here and there, but mostly for positive reviews from very happy users.  The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software has recently been released for a couple of the latest smartphones on the market and while users wait for it, HTC seems to be falling a little behind schedule.  According to HTC, the smartphone was going to be updated with the Android 4.3 software by the end of September, but that does not appear to be happening.

The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49$0.01 – $699.99.

Since the end of September is this week, it looks like there might be some issues with getting the newest software out to users.  HTC President did confirm that the company will miss the release date for the end of this month, but did not offer up any other specifics like when users could expect to get the download notification.  The update goes for all HTC One users on the AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile networks.  The president of HTC did say that a major Android update is on the way, but did not say which one, although the odds are very good that it will be Android 4.3.

Those that have the international version, as well as the Developer Edition of the HTC One started to see the update notification last week.  Those of you in the Unites States were a little miffed at the news, but HTC did assure that the update would be coming very soon.  Whether “slightly” missing the update means one day or two weeks, there is no confirmation of either at this time.  Because HTC has confirmed the news itself, you can expect to hear directly from the company when more information is available.

It was earlier this year that HTC announced the Sense 5 user interface update for the HTC One S, but has to cancel it along with the Android 4.2 update.  HTC has missed deadlines in the past as well, including the Droid Incredible Android 4.1 update that is still coming according to reports.  HTC has been better about communicating information to users and even thought the news is bad, it should not be that long before the software is sent out.  The AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile versions run Android 4.1, while the HTC One on Verizon Wirelesses network operates with Android 4.2.

The HTC One 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49$0.01 – $699.99.
