galaxynoteiiiWhen a smartphone manufacturer actually tweets about an upcoming product release on their official Twitter account, you can pretty much count that as a concrete piece of information. Fortunately for smartphone lovers who enjoy large screens and ridiculously attractive specs packages, Samsung recently tweeted that the Galaxy Note 3 official release date will occur during the annual Mobile World Congress this February 24 through 28 in Barcelona, Spain.

The display size on the new Samsung phablet device makes the Galaxy Note II look small in comparison. With a 5.55 inch touch screen, the Note II currently owns the designation of “largest smartphone display”, but that title will not last long. Rumors concerning the release date, display size, CPU and other Note III details are running rampant around the blogosphere, and this confirmed release date will bring a welcome end to some of that speculation.

The original Galaxy Note debuted with a 5.3 inch display and native handwriting recognition technology. The subsequent Galaxy Note II improved the screen size and other important features, moving from a dual core processor to a quad core CPU. This upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is purported to deliver an 8 core processor and 6.3 inch display, significantly raising the bar for the entire mobile marketplace in general, and Samsung’s smartphone competition in particular.

Any time a device lies at either extreme of a consumer-electronics field, that device will be extremely popular. When the Galaxy Note arrived with the huge 5.3 inch display which was significantly larger than the average smartphone screen, industry analysts immediately predicted its demise. But it was a runaway hit, as was, and is, the Galaxy Note II. The nearly tablet sized screen of the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 will no doubt arrive with a built-in fan base, and the huge OLED display on board is building excitement.

Samsung has included their very own eight-core Exynos Octa processor that was debuted at CES, which is actually 2 sets of quad core processors working together. The two 4-packs intelligently alternate between performance and energy efficiency, depending on your requests and the operations you are currently running. Samsung has predicted a generous 70% increase in battery life, and at this time wireless carrier availability and pricing has not been revealed. Check back here during the Mobile World Conference from Feb. 24 through 28 for updates on the Galaxy Note 3 and other smartphones to debut in 2013.
