Boasting a large 4.80 inch Super AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 306 pixels per inch, the display is home to more than 16 million colors and a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 scratch resistant layer. Earning a True HD resolution designation at 720 x 1,280 pixels, the Samsung Galaxy S III uses special light and proximity sensors to automate everyday tasks, which helps conserve much-needed battery power. The 2,100 mA cell on the phone in turn delivers a full 15.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge, well above the industry average of 11.0 hours.

The Galaxy S III is the third in a long and successful line of Galaxy S smartphones, and recently reported its 60 millionth sale, a number only registered by a handful of handsets. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip, with a dual core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. A powerful Adreno 225 GPU handles the graphics processing, and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is built-in. The phone also offers microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC external memory card support up to 64 GB.

Smartphones today generally offer two cameras, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the Samsung Galaxy S III comes equipped with an LED flash and back illuminated sensor (BSI) for excellent low light performance. The GS III also allows for simultaneous HD image and video recording, one of the first smartphones to do so. A self timer is built-in so you can include yourself in the action, a special effects package is on board, as well as face and smile detection features.

That rear shooter records video at the rate of 30 frames per second and in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution), and offers an advanced CMOS image sensor, exposure compensation, ISO control and high dynamic range mode (HDR), as well as several other customization features. A front facing 1.9 megapixel chat cam is also on board, offering video call and chat support. Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter applications are on board, as is a mobile web browser offering instant Internet access out-of-the-box.

The Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Black can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $10.99.
